How much does downlight installation cost?
It depends on the number of fittings, the LEDs chosen and whether any rewiring is needed. As a rough guide, LED downlight installation in an existing home typically ranges from $80–$140 per downlight including the fitting, labour and compliance certificate. Send photos through the quote form and Daniel confirms a fixed, itemised price — usually the same day.
How long does a lighting installation take?
A standard LED downlight replacement across a typical 3–4 bedroom home (10–20 downlights) is usually done in a single day. Outdoor garden lighting and complex feature lighting can take 1–2 days depending on cable runs and circuits. Your quote includes a clear timeline.
Do I need a licensed electrician to install downlights?
Yes. In NSW all electrical installation work — downlights, pendants and outdoor lighting included — must be performed by a licensed electrician. DIY electrical work is illegal and can void your home insurance. Marmont Electrical holds Contractor Licence 470836C and issues a Certificate of Compliance with every installation.
What type of LED downlights do you recommend?
For most living spaces: CCT-adjustable downlights, so you can switch between warm white (2700–3000K) and cool white (4000K+) to suit the mood — in high-CRI (90+) versions that render colour accurately. For kitchens and bathrooms we fit IP44 or higher-rated fittings for moisture resistance.
Do you install smart lighting systems?
Yes — smart switches, smart dimmers or full smart lighting systems, controlled by app, voice or automation schedule. We're approved Clipsal Wiser installers and also work with Philips Hue and other platforms compatible with Google Home, Apple HomeKit and Amazon Alexa.
Can you install outdoor lighting on a two-storey home?
Yes — eave-mounted floods, roof-level sensor lights and second-storey facade lighting included. Elevated work is done with proper access equipment and carries the same licensing and compliance as everything else we do.
